Dr Madeline Castrey is a distinguished musicologist, performer, and academic with a PhD in music, whose career spans West End theatre, television, and London opera. Recognised as a trailblazer in her field, she became the first 16-year-old admitted to a degree programme at The London College of Music, where she later earned a Master’s degree with distinction. She then went on to complete her doctorate and by the age of 25, she had already achieved a Senior Lectureship, leading courses and managing teaching teams for complex academic modules.

 

Madeline’s work has been featured on prominent media outlets, including BBC News, Sky News, Channel 5, London Live, and GB News, highlighting her contributions to both the arts and wellness sectors.

After overcoming illness during her teenage years, Madeline shaped her mission to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals with serious disabilities. Over the past decade, she has developed innovative programmes that leverage the power of music to improve the quality of life for people affected by neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s, aphasia, and brain injury. Her efforts have included the composition and production of five singles, workshops, and initiatives that explore the transformative potential of music and song.

Madeline started Choon, a music and wellness brand that blends her expertise in music and wellness to create accessible, engaging tools for improving mental and physical health. With Choon, she has developed unique resources and programmes designed to support wellness for everyone. 

A passionate advocate for the arts as a vehicle for change, Madeline is also the author of Your Self, Health, Voice and the creator of a self-produced pilot documentary showcasing her work with Parkinson’s support groups.
